This week I will travel a fair length of Spain, tasting through DO wines of Bullas, Alicante, and a new one to my palate, Bierzo. During this revelatory Iberian week, we will also explore the caminos of Alicante, Bullas (including it’s tremendous museum of local wine history), Ponferrado, and of course, mother Madrid. Throughout this brief cross-section of España, we will visit Sierra Salinas (WL, FB, Tw) in DO Alicante, Bodegas Lavia (WL, Tw) in DO Bullas and Tilenus (WL, Tw) in DO Bierzo. Along the way we will visit the aforementioned Wine Museum Bullas, luncheon on local Cocido Maragato chick pea stew, dine at chef Pedro Larumbe’s Gastropub 38, and tour many local highlights.
